New Life Perspective: Relive the calm times
Confident as we may be, so much is going on in our lives, so much is happening around us and sometimes the stress of it all is just too much. How can we calm down? Sit “as if” you were totally calm. Notice what your body wants to do: do you want to keep your eyes open or do you want them closed? Where do you want to place your shoulders? What is your posture like? How do you want to breathe? See if you can remember a time when you felt totally calm, totally at peace. Allow yourself to become immersed in the moment. As if you’re floating into your body for that moment in time. See through your own eyes the surroundings that bring you calm. Hear from your own ears the sounds that are around you in this moment of peace. Feel the sensations in your body as you are totally calm. Now, take a deep breath, open your eyes and shake yourself back to the here and now. Notice the changes in the level of stress that you are feeling. Life is full of stresses all around and all of the time, but you can use your past experience to help bring calmness inside.
